Unit Bible Verse: <\/strong>\u201cHe said to Him, \u201cLove the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and most important command. The second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and the Prophets depend on these two commands.\u201d\u201d Matthew 22:37-39<\/p>\n

Game: Bread from Heaven<\/strong><\/p>\n

Materials<\/p>\n

Lots of Pom Poms<\/p>\n

Chopsticks or Spoons<\/p>\n

Cups<\/p>\n

GOAL: to be the first team to fill all of their cups with \u201cmanna\u201d<\/p>\n

RULES:\u00a0 You cannot touch the pom-poms (manna) with your hands.\u00a0 You can use the spoon, chopsticks or what have you to take it over to the cups.<\/p>\n

Game: Quail Tag<\/strong><\/p>\n

Gather children in an open area or outside. Designate half the class to be Quail, and explain that the other children are Israelites. Tell children that when the Israelites were hungry, God sent birds called quail for them to eat. Have the Quail crouch down and waddle around the playing area. The Israelites may chase the Quail by taking heel- to-toe steps. When an Israelite tags a Quail, have the two children exchange roles. As children play, explain that the Israelites had to trust God for all their needs.<\/p>\n

Craft: Manna Baskets<\/strong><\/p>\n

Set out crayons, scissors, paper plates, and a stapler. Have each child decorate the back of two paper plates with crayons. Show children how to put the rims of the paper plates together so both designs show, and then staple around the edges. Then help children cut a \u201cpie slice\u201d from the stapled plates to make baskets. You may want to provide sweetened cereal for children to \u201ccollect\u201d in their Manna Baskets.<\/p>\n

Object Lesson: Manna and Worms<\/strong><\/p>\n
