Good morning, Father

During 2017 help me to be faithful in my prayer walk. It is most important that we who serve preschoolers remember to pray for the next generation. Teach me how to pray blessings for these children and their families.

Last week, I saw this huge bird hopping on the ground by my birdbath. As I watched, I could tell his claws held on to something. My immediate thought was that he had caught a chipmunk. With a closer look, I knew this bird was a hawk. While I watched the hawk, I could hear another bird squawking loudly. My gaze went to a robin on a low tree branch. All of a sudden things began to make sense as I realized the hawk had the baby! In the blink of an eye, this robin began to dive bomb the hawk in an attempt to get the hawk to release the baby. Between the screaming and dive bombing, I just couldn’t watch. When it got quiet I looked again. I saw neither bird. The battle was over. Who won?

Father, thank You for defending me in battles I do not even know about. As I begin a new school year with my preschoolers, I thank you that each of them is never lost to You–that Your eye is ever on their whereabouts, involvements, decision making, and health, both physical and spiritual. You are the All-Knowing, Ever-Present God. I am reminded in Psalm 139: Lord, You search, know, understand, observe, created and are aware of me.

Wow! And guess what? God wins my battle and yours every time!

In the powerful name of Jesus, Who is never lost to Me
