Good morning, Father.

The preschoolers I encounter seem to enjoy being at church, interacting with friends, playing with provided materials, and growing spiritually as well as physically. Help me to teach them about the JOY that comes from a relationship with You; it is different from being happy. As they grow, help these children learn about the inner peace that comes from knowing You, learning about Your Word, singing hymns of praise to You, and  praying prayers that are heard and answered. May each child be filled until their spirit overflows with the joy of Your Word, Your sacrifice, and with the Holy Spirit.

In the power of Jesus’ name, Amen.

Good morning, Father.

One of my favorite moments on Sunday morning is when our class comes to you in prayer. To witness young hearts bowing in reverence and sometimes lying prostrate on the floor is humbling. Help me to teach these children about “touching the hem of Your garment” through prayer. May habits of prayer develop and remain in their hearts for a lifetime.

Grant, Lord, that my children’s lives may be marked by prayerfulness, that they may learn to pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. (See Ephesians 6:18.)

In the power of Jesus’ name, Amen.

Good morning, Father.

As I pray for my preschoolers, I am reminded that they are born with a sinful nature because of the fall of Adam and Eve. It is in their nature to go through those stages of “me” and “mine.” We call that stage “the terrible twos” which sometimes continues on through their growth and development. Father, when the world tells these children to give in to their desires, give them the resolve and strength to say “no.” Help them as they grow and develop to not be like many others around them, but let them be alert and self-controlled in all they do.

In the power of Jesus’ name, Amen.

Good morning, Father.

Your Word instructs us to be ” . . . quick to hear, slow to speak . . .” (James 1:19).  Remind me as I serve preschoolers to listen well–first to You, as I am preparing for Sunday, and second to the conversations that take place with the children. There is a time to speak, but there is also a time to listen.

In the power of Jesus’ name, Amen.
