Good morning, Father.

During 2016 help me to be faithful in my prayer walk. It is most important that we who serve preschoolers remember to pray for the next generation. Teach me how to pray for these children.

Father, thank You for friends. What a sweet gift You have given us as we journey life. True friends encourage us, love us even when they see through us, help us, cry with us, and keep our faith walk true with You. As I pray for these precious preschoolers, help them to learn about good friendships and how to be a good friend. My prayer is that they desire the right kinds of friends and be protected from the wrong friends.

“My son, if sinners entice you, don’t be persuaded.” (Proverbs 1:10, HCSB)

Sovereign Lord, how do I teach authority? May my ways come from the teachings of Your Word. Authority is to be respected, obeyed, and trusted; it is for the good of the people. Depending on the age of the preschoolers I encounter, help me to do everything with love and kindness, yet with stern firmness to protect, keep order, develop character, and honor You. Help me to live Your standards, as I strive to reflect You with excellence to the children and families I serve.

Lord, preschoolers are all about “me.” We see it in babies, as they are totally dependent on others for their care. Then babies turn 1 and their independence begins to grow. By the time children are 2, they are so into themselves in regards to “me, myself, and mine” that life can be challenging. The age span of 3-5 years brings about a multitude of growth in children physically, mentally, socially, emotionally, and spiritually. Lord, help me as I interact with my preschoolers to foster a positive attitude in the relationships they have with others. May these girls and boys grow into responsible children of faith, even at an early age.

“Daniel distinguished himself above the administrators and satraps because he had an extraordinary spirit, so the king planned to set him over the whole realm.” (Daniel 6:3, HCSB)

Father, as teachers and parents, we do our best to protect our children. We practice safety in the car, crossing the street, on the playground, and in the classroom. We take our children to pediatricians for illnesses and checkups and try to follow their guidelines for living healthy lives. But as You are well aware, Lord, a source of evil exists that prowls to destroy Your children. You call him evil, the deceiver, or Satan. Today I am praying that You protect these precious preschoolers from the evil one in each area of their lives: spiritual, emotional, and physical.

“. . . The world hated them because they are not of the world, as I am not of the world.”
