Good morning, Father.

During 2017 help me to be faithful in my prayer walk. It is most important that we who serve preschoolers remember to pray for the next generation. Teach me how to pray blessings for these children and their families.

Father, we are approaching back to school time! Our immediate thoughts go to buying a new backpack for the whole year, new shoes, clothing, and finding out who our teacher will be along with whom is in our class. The excitement is here! You are our earthly provider, and I say thank you for meeting our daily needs.

I do ask, Father, for a different provision for these preschoolers regarding the new school year. I ask that they learn more about friendship, kindness, patience, sharing, cooperation, taking turns, being respectful, and compassion. All this will grow them closer to You and Your ways so that they will understand what loving one another means.

“I give you a new commandment: Love one another. Just as I have loved you, you must also love one another.” (John 13:34, HCSB)

In Orlando or on Cocoa Beach, I have seen a sky writer. His message is usually short: JESUS  LUVS  U or GOD (heart) U. By the time he gets to the last letter of the last word, the first word is disappearing.  So where do the letters go? Through the eyes of a four year old, he might say, “Oh, I know–maybe Jesus has an eraser!”

We all have haunting mistakes that we’d like to erase: a spoken unkind or cruel word, letting a friend down, an invitation that wasn’t given, haunting painful memories that still sting, a humiliating event that forever eats at you. We all have them.

What about the preschoolers I teach or come in contact with this week? They are still learning social skills such as sharing, taking turns, speaking kindly, and including others in play at school or for play dates. Help me, Father, to demonstrate Your faithful love. Help me to teach others about forgiveness when they are hurt. I want these kids to know, Father, that Jesus is The Eraser!

“For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is His faithful love toward those who fear Him. As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us.” (Psalm 103:11-12, HCSB)

Have you ever been out to dinner with someone and when it comes time to order, the words out of his or her mouth are, “I’ll have what she’s having”? Happens all the time.

We can be sure of this–people watch, listen, and imitate. Do you realize that people fall in love with your godliness? I pray that whatever is going on in your life, you will let God’s voice be the loudest. Your hope should always rest in the living God. Your trust in God is your constant.

After the bombing at her concert in Manchester, England, Ariana Grande tweeted on May 23, 2017: “broken. from the bottom of my heart, i am so sorry. i don’t have words.” We are all given a platform. People need life-giving words of hope found only in Jesus Christ. Be ready because someone is bound to say, “I’ll have what she’s having.”

“How happy is the man who has put his trust in the Lord.” (Psalm 40:4, HCSB)

Father, our times are unstable. Countries around the world are experiencing deadly attacks causing fear and raising questions about physical safety. So I ask You to protect the families of the preschoolers I encounter. Keep them physically safe, healthy, and guard them from the evil one.

“But the Lord is faithful; He will strengthen and guard you from the evil one.”
