Good morning, Father

During 2017 help me to be faithful in my prayer walk. It is most important that we who serve preschoolers remember to pray for the next generation. Teach me how to pray blessings for these children and their families.

One of my favorite hymns is “What a Friend We Have in Jesus.” Why? The song reminds me that Jesus likes me, and better yet, He loves me! Father, I want the preschoolers I encounter to have friends. Actually, just one good one. Help each child this year as they choose their friends. Protect them from making wrong friends who will mislead them and pull them into wrong choices.

“Do not be deceived: Bad company corrupts good morals.” (1 Corinthians 15:33, CSB)

Lord, please put a hedge of protection and blessing around the Brentwood Baptist Preschool and everything in it. Send your angels to guard us from anyone who is planning any violent or mean act. Thank you for the protection plans already in place. Thank you for our community workers, police, firemen, and EMTs that so bravely serve. May You bless their efforts and grant them Your favor.

“For He will give His angels orders concerning you, to protect you in all your ways.”

Father, it seems the smallest organ we have is the deadliest–the tongue. You created us to be peacemakers, to be considerate and humble. Stop us before we use bad language. We want to say only what is good and helpful. Make our words be a blessing. Help everyone at BBC Preschool not to say anything bad about anyone. Help me to be a teachable example to those I encounter.

Father of heaven and earth, You are the Creator of all. We have seen Your power in the recent hurricanes, tornadoes, wildfires, and earthquakes across our country and world. Father, as we live through times such as these, help us to be kind and compassionate to others. May we be examples of kindness to our children and  preschoolers at church. Father, help our church be known as a place where children and teachers are kind and forgiving, just like You are with us. Show us ways to bless others.

“And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ.” (Ephesians 4:32, CSB)

Dear God, help all the preschoolers at BYCS to obey and respect their teachers, whether in the classroom, outdoors, at music or lunch. Rest time also can be a challenge. Help each preschooler submit to proper authority because You have put them in that position. Give our students the long vision that when they are rebellious, they are rebelling against You.

“Let everyone submit to the governing authorities, since there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are instituted by God.” (Romans 13:1,CSB)

Dear Father, help me to be the kind of teacher that You desire that I be during this 2017-18 calendar year. As I work on lessons for my preschoolers, may I have Your wisdom and insight to base all things on what is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent, and praiseworthy. (Philippians 4:8)

Father, thank you for our best example seen in the life of Jesus. This year in preschool I ask that You help our teachers and others in administration. May they be good examples by being honest and fair in everything. Help them to not give up even when it’s been a tough day.

Father, one of the Old Testament Bible stories that the children love to hear is David and Goliath. One thing we see in David is how he is bold and courageous. He was able to stand up against this 9-foot, 9-inch Philistine because he trusted His God in all things. Help the preschoolers I encounter to trust in You so that they, too, will be bold and courageous to tell people about You. Help me to let my light shine so that people will praise You.

“In the same way, let your light shine before men, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.” (Matthew 5:16, HCSB)

Dear Lord, prayer from Your Word is powerful when prayed in faith and belief. It has to be on Your heart that every student and teacher at my school/church would come to know the truth about You and be saved. Today I pray that You will help us to know You as we begin a new school year together. I look forward to what You will do!

Good morning, Father

Last week, I saw this huge bird hopping on the ground by my birdbath. As I watched, I could tell his claws held on to something. My immediate thought was that he had caught a chipmunk. With a closer look, I knew this bird was a hawk. While I watched the hawk, I could hear another bird squawking loudly. My gaze went to a robin on a low tree branch. All of a sudden things began to make sense as I realized the hawk had the baby! In the blink of an eye, this robin began to dive bomb the hawk in an attempt to get the hawk to release the baby. Between the screaming and dive bombing, I just couldn’t watch. When it got quiet I looked again. I saw neither bird. The battle was over. Who won?

Father, thank You for defending me in battles I do not even know about. As I begin a new school year with my preschoolers, I thank you that each of them is never lost to You–that Your eye is ever on their whereabouts, involvements, decision making, and health, both physical and spiritual. You are the All-Knowing, Ever-Present God. I am reminded in Psalm 139: Lord, You search, know, understand, observe, created and are aware of me.

Wow! And guess what? God wins my battle and yours every time!
