Good morning, Father.

During 2017 help me to be faithful in my prayer walk. It is most important that we who serve preschoolers remember to pray for the next generation. Teach me how to pray blessings for these children and their families.

I love teaching preschoolers, especially Bible stories. Their simple childlike faith shown in their faces as they listen reveals hearts open to the gospel, and I am overwhelmed with this honor of sharing. My four-year-olds who are turning five, love the story of Jesus and the little children found in Mark 10:13-16. We begin the story by pretending to get ready because Jesus is coming! We act out getting dressed, combing our hair, eating breakfast, brushing our teeth and then off we go to see Jesus. But it is crowded and we can’t see Jesus. Even His disciples prevent us from getting close. But Jesus says, “Let the little children come to Me” (Mark 10:14). And we are overjoyed!

To receive Jesus’ blessing, touch, laughter, and nearness leaves you never the same. Always better! Are there children you need to bring to Jesus? Little ones, adults, or what about yourself? No matter what age, there is strength in the arms of Jesus. Remember that He cares about you and loves you unconditionally. He wants you to trust Him. Bring to Him in prayer your little ones, your adult children, or yourself. Do it now and do it often. Jesus always says, “Let the children come to Me!”

Righteousness is being made right with God through Jesus. Simple. As I think of these preschoolers, I pray that they will bury the truth about Jesus in their hearts and choose to be a part of His forever family by faith at the right age. Father, guide these children to learn life skills such as sharing; taking turns; and being kind, helpful, and honest. Being a preschooler can be a lot about me and mine. Help them grow to think of others, and help me speak positive words that will bring forth fruit of Your character.

Father, thank you for choosing me to work with preschoolers. I desire to be an example of Jesus to all those I encounter and serve at Brentwood Baptist Church. Father, as my preschoolers and their families are out and about playing organized sports or just playing in their yards, may they attract others to You. It is Your truth and righteousness that makes us attractive. Help us to draw others to You as we live, work, and play.

“Follow Me,” Jesus told them, “and I will make you fish for people!” (Mark 1:17,  HCSB)

Father, summer is upon us. As we end the school year and begin a summer schedule that is more relaxed, continue to give these preschoolers and their families a hunger for Your Word. Involve them in Your work; bless them with spiritual leaders who are trustworthy and humble. May the Brentwood Young Children’s School and the Preschool Ministry of Brentwood Baptist Church always provide a unified, prayerful, Bible-teaching church family that will draw them into community.

Lord, Easter brings us so many promises with eternal rewards. I pray that the preschoolers I serve will seek Your kingdom first. Teach them through me about righteous living with integrity and putting the needs of others first. When we live in a society that focuses on me, mine, and ours, serving others is not our nature. But I know as preschoolers learn how to share, be kind and forgiving, take turns, and help others, they will be laying treasures in heaven.

“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be provided for you.” (Matthew 6:33, HCSB)

Father, these preschoolers are growing up so fast. It just seems like yesterday that they were babies. You sent Your son to earth as a baby, to grow up to be a man who would die for our sins. What a demonstration of Love! Help me to love my preschoolers and their families. May I be a shining example of that love to others.

Father, we give thanks for the hope we have in You through the death and resurrection of Your Son. Through the unfolding of spring, help my preschoolers begin to learn about new life. Resurrection is a difficult concept. Help the children grasp and understand as much as they can about Jesus’ death and resurrection. Give me ideas on how best to teach them.

Lord, after Jesus died, the women went to Jesus’ tomb. It was:

Empty, how
Amazing! They were
Surprised! It was the
Third Day after His death, how
Extraordinary! Jesus had
Risen! Alleluia!

Father, I am praying “A Jellybean Prayer” for the preschoolers and their families as we prepare for Easter:
Black is for our sin–the wrong things we have done.
Red is for Jesus’ blood–He shed for everyone.
White is for a clean heart–when in Jesus we believe.
Gold is for the streets in Heaven–promised when Jesus we receive.
Green is for growing; hide His Word in your heart.
Put your trust in Jesus–give your life a brand new start!

Good morning, Father.

Father, You are our Creator and you created each of us out of Your Love! As I think about and pray for the families of the preschoolers I encounter at BBC, I wonder what kind of morning people they are. Do they wake up before the rooster crows and go for that morning run? Or do they snap at their alarm, pushing that snooze button several times? Or do they just wake up when the kids get them up?

Whichever describes them, I pray they will know this: God woke them up this morning for a reason. Isaiah 50:4 is a beautiful way to awaken each morning–“He awakens (Me) each morning; He awakens my ear to listen like those being instructed” (HCSB).

May each parent and child hear You, their Father, say, “Hello, beautiful!” I pray that they will wake up with the expectation of hearing and receiving new wisdom and encouragement from their heavenly Father.
